Imagine standing next to a sanctuary, a haven that promises to shelter you from life’s troubles and guide you through. And then imagine not taking that shelter!

We are living in times that are rife with confusion when the struggles of everyday life seem relentless. In the middle of this chaos, the Quran offers us unwavering guidance that is not just timeless, but highly relevant to our contemporary challenges.

The Holy Quran, this profound blessing by Allah, not only offers solace through its verses, but it promises to guide us through this maze of life. It does not just guarantee rewards in the hereafter but also promises our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being in this world.

Rewards of Recitation Mentioned in the Quran and Hadith

The Quran itself bears witness that there are countless rewards for those who recite this blessed Book. Similarly, many Ahadiths highlight the innumerable benefits of recitation of the Quran. So here are the reasons why we should recite the Quran regularly.

🌱 Rewards Will Be Bestowed For Every Letter You Recite

Believers who recite the Quran, are bestowed with hasanaat many times the number of letters they have read.

Narrated Muhammad bin Ka'b Al-Qurazi:

"I heard 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud saying: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "[Whoever recites a letter] from Allah's Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2910

It is evident in this hadith that there is immense value in engaging with the Quran and of doing tilawa regularly.

🌱 Quran Will Intercede on The Day of Judgement

The Quran will intercede on behalf of those who recite it regularly on the Day of Judgement. What better reward than being guaranteed a saviour when we need it the most?

Narrated Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Indeed there is a Surah in the Qur'an of thirty Ayat, which intercedes for a man until he is forgiven. It is [Surah] Tabarak Alladhi Biyadihil-Mulk." (Meaning Surah Mulk)

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2891

🌱 It is a Source Of Inner Peace and Solace

In the UK, 25% of the population suffer from stress or anxiety every year. Isn't this overwhelming? Luckily, the act of recitation offers us solace in moments of despair, touching our hearts and giving us the resilience to go on. It helps soothe the restlessness in our hearts, proving an anchor in times of tests. Recitation of the Quran is an ibadah, a way of remembering Allah. And when there is Allah in one’s heart, peace is sure to follow.

"Those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort." (Quran, 13:28)

🌱 It Heals the Souls of Believers

Quran recitation helps cleanse the hearts of believers of all envy, malice or any other negative emotion. It makes believers extend kindness to everyone and then receive kindness in return. When they let go of their grudges, their own hearts get healed in return.

“We send down the Quran as a healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrong-doers in loss.”(17:82)

Here in Sura Al-Isra, Allah affirms that the Quran is a remedy for those who choose to use it.

🌱 It Provides Guidance To Those Who Seek It

This Blessed book is a treasure trove of Islamic teachings and a source of guidance for all times to come. It helps believers align their lives according to Islamic teachings. It is mentioned in the Quran;

“Those who hide the clear proofs and guidance that We have revealed-after We made it clear for humanity in the Book-will be condemned by Allah and (all) those who condemn.”(2:159)

Recitation of the Quran brings clarity and insights into the purpose of our existence, giving us a sense of direction and helping us walk the Sirat-e-Mustaqeem.

🌱 Recitation Will Make Us From Among The Chosen Ones

By engaging with the verses of the Quran we can be among the chosen ones, be closer to Allah, and be identified by Him as His own.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah has His own people among humanity.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, who are they?” The Prophet said, “They are the people of the Quran, the people of Allah and His chosen ones.”

Narrated Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever recites Ha Mim Al-Mu'min - up to - To Him is the return (40:1-3) and Ayat Al-Kursi when he reaches (gets up in) the morning, he will be protected by them until the evening. And whoever recites them when he reaches the evening, he will be protected by them until the morning."

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2879
